It is well-known that to solve the global climate challenges, there is a profound need for joint actions to be taken. It takes ambitions and hard work – especially from companies all over the world. Obviously, we cannot run our businesses as usual. On the other hand it is a challenge to take initiatives which also have an actual impact. Therefore, at Danoffice IT and edgemo we have now committed to the Science Based Targets initiative, SBTi.
“Our goal is, obviously, to make our company and business more sustainable – but a goal for us, is also to be able to help our clients create change within their businesses”, says Henriette Normann-Ekegren, ESG Manager at Danoffice IT. “We are committed to build a sustainable business not by doing what is easy, but doing what is necessary. When we follow Science Based Targets we know exactly how much and how quickly we need to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. This way we can efficiently contribute to preventing the worst effects of the ongoing climate changes”.

In the Danoffice IT family we have customers in more than 200 countries, which constitutes a complex environmental challenge. Therefore, it is important that we move towards the most efficient and evidence based type of change. The Science Based Targets initiative is a collaboration between CDP, United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). By dedicating ourselves to an initiative led by such prominent parties, we secure that we do not take actions at random – and by pure intuition. SBTi is rooted in a significant scientific foundation – e.g., by defining their goals and actions based on recommendations set by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC.
The work has begun! “We have committed to reduce our own greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% from 2020 to 2030. Furthermore, we must initiate a line of actions making it easier for our clients to reduce their emissions. This can only be done by engaging our entire value chain – from the manufacturers to the freight companies”, states Henriette.
