  • Case story

Our networks steal the spotlight these days and are easily one of the hottest topics in IT - now and in 2026. AI and global geopolitics are the direct reasons why we today have to rethink the way we approach working with networks. Networks are no longer solely the accesses to data. They are the prerequisites for your business strategy to succeed. Things must be aligned and coherent – all the way to the core.

“We Just Need An Extra Rack”

Add-ons on existing IT-infrastructure has been causing frustration for specialists forever. This also goes for network where you, too, need to be cautious if you wish to improve or expand things. Often people forget to make sure that the core can keep up, says network specialist of many years and Senior Solution Manager in Danoffice IT, Jacob Vittrup:  “Network today is closely linked to your business strategy. Especially with the AI wave, we are now talking about security and performance on a level we would never have dreamt of”.

These new changes set out demands for the network and thus it is important, now more than ever, to make sure, that the core is healthy, Jacob says. “In 2025 we had several datacenter projects where the clients initially wanted to add-on to what they already had. We just need some extra ports. We just need an extra rack. But, after thorough reviews they ended up building thing correctly from the bottom up, so that the network is built to meet the conditions, they were facing. That way you stand strong and future-proof”.

The. World. Is. Hybrid.

Just a handful of years ago, cloud first was dominating the market. However, today hybrid infrastructure is a prerequisite to succeed. “Remember that the World is changing rapidly. In the World today, the cloud is not at all the only solution. The IT-world is hybrid because we are forced to handle our data differently than we used to just a few years ago. This raises many questions”, Jacob says and continues: “Where does our data live? What is the cost for transporting it around? This is why we see a massive movement towards keeping our data at home. But in the very moment we change our fundamental data structures, we then need to ask ourselves: Where are we processing our data? Has our starting point changed? Does our datacenter and network support this strategy? If you do not have these answers, then you urgently need to take action”.

How Is My Core Network Actually Built?

HPE Aruba spent 2025 introducing some of the most groundbreaking network solutions on the market – and an approach which not only addresses the development here and now, but also in a distant future. “The datacenter and the network are melting together. It is increasingly a joint focus”, Jacob states and elaborates: “We are going to link the whole concept of redundancy and visibility with Juniper, and this will expand Aruba’s portfolio of opportunities significantly. From the very core of HPE and Aruba the motto, AI for Networking – Networking for AI, is fully anchored. And understandably so, because AI is so demanding. Before you even to think about AI, you need to ask yourself, how is my core network actually built? With Juniper being a part of HPE we now see an incredibly broad offering of core-products”, he says.

Positions for Network – Network for Positions

As mentioned above, it is your strategy which determines how your network should be built. Positions on how secure we are, and where we are heading, are also indirectly positions regarding your network. For example, the work with AI is not just a question of introducing AI on user-level. There is a big difference in introducing Co-Pilot in an organization or actually having your own AI. “Everyone has a position on AI today”, Jacob says and continues. “Most networks will be able to handle common AI-products, but many organizations take a step further and ask, should we have our own AI fabric? In that case it is critically necessary that you in the next sentence ask yourselves, what are the demands on our network”.

In short, we need a position on everything that can challenge our network on performance, redundancy and security. And, when we above here ask, where does our data live?, it is about much more than just cloud technology. “All companies today must have a position on geopolitics. We experience more and more organizations who discuss whether or not they can have their data on American soil. Data sovereignty is essential today, and whether you keep your data globally, regionally, nationally, or even domestically, it will affect the demands for your network, says Jacob Vittrup.

”The datacenter technology now starts to focus more on the user. We see the totality of things better than before.  The technological possibilities we have today are hard to even comprehend – the tech is so radical that we need to view it as a sign of what awaits us. Aruba, for example, will be launching switches so powerful that they need water cooling. A technology we see as a fast result of the joint HPE and Juniper.''

Equipment for The Future

Jacob adds: “What we see here is, that the collaboration between HPE and Juniper is already bearing fruit. It brings products to the market faster because they can exploit each other’s technology, knowledge, and competencies. This is everyone’s favor”.

A field affecting the development right now, and which is setting out demands for our networks, is security. Jacob uses the classic firewall as an example. “In the old days we would send traffic through a big firewall, but today that is slow and expensive. Thus, we now see the networks being used for some of these tasks instead. This sets out harsh demands, but a modern network today can actually meet these demands. It is fascinating what is coming our way. The future is ready for us”.

Look Ahead And Reach Out

Having basics in control never gets old-fashioned. But when the development runs fast it can be a challenge for even the toughest network team to keep up. Jacob therefore recommends that you reach out to a good and highly competent friend. “In Danoffice IT we have a sharp focus on networks in modern IT-operations. Thus, we not only follow the development – we also intensively educate ourselves with Aruba’s programs and solutions. This allows us to guide and advise our clients safely and efficiently, no matter what the characteristics of the network might be. Remember, everything changes right now – so does the core of your network”, concludes Jacob Vittrup, Senior Solution Manager i Danoffice IT.
