What does the modern workplace look like in the future?
As always, we were onsite when our strong partner and leader of the Modern Workplace-movement, Citrix, gathered its alliances at Citrix Connect and at the highly specialized Citrix Partner Insights. At both events it was clear that a lot of the things we expect from the future, is already here.
The Road to Synergy
Citrix Connect was – as expected – an event, where the bar was set sky-high. Here, Citrix marks how the standard for the modern workplace looks like here and now. But Connect is also a strategic launch platform where Citrix takes us all on a journey towards the horizon. Towards both a near and a distant future. “Being a part of Connect is crucial for a Citrix-house with the partner status we have in Danoffice IT”, says Lead Architect in Danoffice IT, Anders Wittendorff.
”We were introduced to roadmaps and to the strong synergies from the new acquisitions which will play an important role for Citrix in the future. This covered the expansion of the Citrix-platform with Google Chrome Enterprise Premium, Strong Network, deviceTRUST and Unicon. A boost which will shake things up in the market”.
Besides Connect, Anders also took part in the closed forum, Citrix Partner Insights, where partner specialists from all over the World are invited. “Due to our partner status with Citrix, we are a part of this, and it gives access to incredibly important insights to the benefit of our clients”, he says.
Earlier this year, we also had the honor of attending Citrix Unite in New Orleans, where Danoffice IT was named Citrix European Technical Partner of the Year. A proud moment that reflects the dedication and expertise of our entire team. Read the full story behind the award and insights from Citrix Unite.

Use the Development – Drive the Development
At Citrix Connect one of the peak points was the two awaited keynotes from Brian Madden. A gentleman with the title, Futurist, in the Citrix organization. And why is he relevant here? ”The development has never run faster than today. Especially because of AI, and therefore we need some direction, some focus points. Brian Madden’s job is to describe where we and Citrix are heading. He is not looking two or three years ahead, even though that seems like a distant future in times like this. Instead, he is looking ten years ahead, and even further”, Anders says and adds: ”By that his predictions become a part of the mission for Citrix. He talked on how AI affects our everyday and our working lives. His point is that a lot of what we believe will happen in the future, is already happening. It is already accessible. Citrix both utilizes and drives the development, and the rest of us can do so, too”.
The AI-natives?
When the internet became more publicly available some thirty years ago, we started defining a new generation of digital natives. People born with entirely different opportunities than people not growing up with internet. The latter group was often labelled digital immigrants by tech specialists and scientists.
Brian Madden looks – like Citrix – at the world holistically. He talks about an AI-native World. And yes, this is the World at year 2025. There is no rewinding. He also separates the IT-development from the AI-development.
IT is this layer, which is being forced down on us from above, whereas AI is a bottom-up-development, because the users have taken the technology in their own hands autonomously and without asking for permission. Why is this relevant?
“AI in the workplace should, according to Brian Madden, facilitate the users’ wish for a smarter and more efficient work life. Therefore, Citrix does not see itself as a driver of AI. Instead, Citrix will both use and be a part of the development by delivering the possibilities for the users. They want to deliver apps and desktops in the best possible way in the future”.
Create Empty Spaces with AI
When talking about what AI should do in the workplace, then Brian Madden and Citrix think that we should look at the things AI can create: Spaces. Empty spaces, he says. “For many years we have talked about freeing up resources in our IT-departments. Removing routine tasks to focus on operations and business development. With AI this now goes for the entire workplace, and this is why Citrix is now presenting its holistic approach. Users can now let routine tasks and heavy administration be handled within seconds with AI. This leaves spaces which can be used for thing of much more value. A very tangible way to look at the value of AI”, Anders Wittendorff says.

“The whole point is that, yes, AI will take over a lot. But it does not change the fact that we still have to deliver a secure workplace, and this is what we can do with Citrix. We will not lose our jobs, because now we need to embrace a lot of new technology. Because of AI we will need to massively invest in security and flexibility. The users demand the flexibility, and AI sets out the need for a secure workplace”.

Catch up with your Licenses
If we return to Brian Madden’s approach on the fact that a lot of what we were waiting for, is already here, then Anders has an important message, following that:
“It is crucial that you open your box with Citrix-licenses and see what you actually have access to. You will be surprised! The classic Citrix still exists and operates perfectly, but the new approach, the whole Secure Workplace approach is about much more than apps and desktops. It goes way beyond, and now Citrix sees the whole workplace. So – check if you are taking full use of your licenses – the possibilities for getting ready for the future are already here”, concludes Anders Wittendorff.
