Balance in the industry and balance in the workplace. At Danoffice IT, we work tirelessly on our ESG goal to achieve a better gender balance both within our own organization and the industry as a whole.

Therefore, we have launched an initiative to put powerful women in the spotlight through a series of biographies through which these women will share their respective journeys to a career in the IT industry. The next in the series is Head of India, Carol Simon, who from day one has played a central role in establishing Danoffice IT in India – and who today leads an operation in rapid growth.

Being At The Forefront When Something New Begins

Carol’s journey at Danoffice IT does not begin at a desk with clear processes and established systems. It begins in an empty office in Bangalore, where two people had to build the foundation for an entirely new market. For Carol, this was not a daunting start – it was an opportunity. A chance to shape the direction before a direction even existed.
Today, just two years later, the India office stands as an important part of Danoffice IT’s global setup. This is due in part to Carol’s ability to build relationships, structures, and business entirely from scratch. Her attention to both the big picture and the details has made it possible to create a local presence with global standards.
“When you’re building something new, there’s no single true path — you only discover the way once you’re in it. We built our structure piece by piece, and I am incredibly proud of that.” Carol says.

From a Large Global Organisation To Becoming The Driving Force Behind Something New

Before joining Danoffice IT, Carol worked in a large international technology company, where roles and processes were clear and well-defined. Moving to Danoffice IT was therefore a conscious choice to step into something smaller – yet far more shapeable.

Here, she could truly influence things. Here, she could see the direct impact of her work. And here, she could help establish a business that had not existed before. In addition, she describes the major development that, within the foreseeable future, the India office will move towards consolidating both the warehouse and office into the same building.

“I could have followed a safe and predictable career path. But I chose growth. I chose something where I could feel the impact of my work – and where I could help build something new.”

MyRoadToIT

Together with the campaign in the IT industry called MyRoadToIT, our series of mini biographies is centered around 3 standard questions to which women in the Danish IT industry provide their unique responses. Here are the “three standards” for Carol:

 – What do you do in the business these days and which difference do you feel you contribute to?

As Head of India, Carol leads operations, sales, relationships, deliveries, and collaboration with suppliers and partners. Her work ranges from daily customer contact to establishing new processes, building local vendor relationships, and ensuring financial and operational frameworks.

She helps ensure that Danoffice IT in India operates at the same high standards as the rest of the organisation – and that customers feel that Danoffice IT is physically present exactly where they need support.

“Our task is to give customers in India the same quality and experience as in Denmark. We take that responsibility very seriously – and we have proven that we can deliver it.” – Carol Simon

 – Why do you find it interesting to work in the IT industry and what motivates you in your work?

The IT industry isn’t just about technology - it’s about momentum. It’s one of the few industries where ideas can move from conversation to reality at incredible speed. One meeting can turn into a solution that impacts thousands of people.

What motivates her most is the ability to build something that didn’t exist yesterday. IT is a space where experimentation is encouraged, where curiosity is rewarded, and where problems are invitations to innovate.

She sees technology not just as systems or code or gadgets, but as a platform for possibility — a place where creativity meets logic. Carol explains it as: "I love working in IT because it feels like building the future in real time. Every day, you’re either solving something new or creating something better”

– How did you end up in the IT industry?

Carol holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering. She began her career as a Systems Engineer in a large global organisation and quickly moved into presales and later sales.

With her MBA in Business Analytics, she chose to combine her technical understanding with a more commercial role, allowing her to work closer to customers and business. This paved the way for her current leadership role. “I quickly realised that technology only has value when it reaches the users. That’s why I moved toward sales – and it has shaped my career.”

Being One Of The Few – And Opening Doors For More

Although the industry in India is changing, women are still underrepresented – especially in commercial and leadership roles. Carol is often the only woman in the meeting room. It is not a barrier for her, but it is something she notices.

She believes that visible role models, support, and passion are crucial if more women are to choose a career in IT. “It makes a difference to see women in the same roles. You need someone to reflect yourself in.”

Pride in the journey – and in the courage to choose differently

There is no single moment that defines Carol’s journey. It is the sum of many decisions – particularly the decision to step beyond a comfortable and familiar role to pursue something more challenging and meaningful.

“I didn’t choose the easy path. I chose the exciting one. And I have never regretted it.”

Her journey is a strong example of how courage, curiosity, and responsibility can lead to something entirely new – and at the same time create value for customers, colleagues, and Danoffice IT’s global development.
