Balance in the industry and balance in the workplace. At Danoffice IT, we work tirelessly on our ESG goal to achieve a better gender balance both within our own organization and the industry as a whole.
Therefore, we have launched an initiative to put powerful women in the spotlight through a series of biographies through which these women will share their respective journeys to a career in the IT industry. The next woman up is our Marketing Specialist, Cate Omelchenko, who has worked in tech all her career – and who thrives on exploring the opportunities with new technology.
Technologies Connect People
As a child of the 90’s, Cate is a digital native – a term which she fully lives up to. “Technology inspires me. Technologies connect people and make our lives easier. They help us collaborate across borders, share knowledge instantly, and find new solutions faster. Today, they are an essential part of both our professional and everyday lives”. Cate’s fascination of her grandfather’s tangible introduction to technology, early on in her life, has made a solid impact on her and has neutralized many barriers in her encounters with new technology.
MyRoadToIT
Together with the campaign in the IT industry called MyRoadToIT, our series of mini biographies is centered around 3 standard questions to which women in the Danish IT industry provide their unique responses. Here are the “three standards” for Cate:
– What do you do in the business these days and which difference do you feel you contribute to?
“In Danoffice IT I work as a Marketing Specialist. I work with our website, Hubspot, Google campaigns, Matomo analytics, SEO, and much more. I also work on marketing materials to support our sales. In my career I have always worked with marketing and sales – and always in tech”
“I am a very result driven person. It’s not just about presenting results - it’s also about attracting new clients and creating new results through that. Because I’ve always worked in tech and startups, and was introduced to AI early on, I bring a mindset and approach that helps break down barriers and drive progress”.
– Why do you find it interesting to work in the IT industry and what motivates you in your work?
“As I said, I almost breathe through technology. AI is transforming how we work and opening doors to entirely new ways of doing things. What excites me most is how tech constantly makes life easier—first it was computers and iPhones, now it’s tools like ChatGPT. It’s incredible how quickly these innovations become part of our everyday routines”.
“In Businessmann I worked closely with the AI team and gained solid experience from them. It gave me a real understanding of how AI can enhance businesses and manufacturing, especially through our collaboration with large production companies in our AI-department.
Now, in Marketing, I see another side of technology: How digital tools, data, and creativity
combine to build strong brands. With AI, it has become much easier to create content, analyze results, and access insights that were previously out of reach. This opens up new opportunities to be more strategic, more creative, and more impactful in the way we connect with people. Another big source of motivation for me is giving back to the community. Through my work with Coding Pirates, I see firsthand how empowering it can be for young people – especially girls – to discover technology and creating on their own. Seeing their excitement reminds me why I chose this field in the first place”.
– How did you end up in the IT industry?
“It all started when I was a student. I got a job in a tech startup I Kyiv, Depositphotos, which is a stock-photo platform with over 138 million files. The company developed and grew a lot. Our R&D started working with AI and search base optimization to improve search results for our clients. This was my first experience with AI – it was in the early 2010’s”.
“Later, life brought big changes. Leaving my home country was hard, but from the beginning I met amazing people who supported me. Among them was Sine Zambach, a data scientist. Sine was also the one who introduced me to Businessmann and later to Coding Pirates – and that’s how I found my way into the IT industry in Denmark”.
“Today, I am part of Danoffice IT, and I’m glad to work in a place where ideas are valued and the company is constantly developing technologically and offering clients the latest solutions. I feel that I am a part of this process, which makes the work meaningful”.
