25 Years for the Future. For a quarter of a century, the UN Global Compact has been a driver of positive change worldwide.

Founded in 2000 by Kofi Annan, the UN Global Compact was launched to inspire action and progress in embedding the UN’s 10 universal principles into our consciousness, into the way we live and do business. At Danoffice IT, we have been part of this journey since 2007, a bond that has only grown stronger over the years.

80 Years of Change – 25 Years United

2025 is a year of major milestones. In addition to the 25th anniversary of the UN Global Compact, we also celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations itself, an organization Danoffice IT has followed and supported since our early days in 1995. Soon, we will also mark 30 years of working to make a difference, not least through our engagement with the UN. For many years, we have proudly called ourselves a leading supplier to the world’s largest humanitarian organizations, a role and responsibility we do not take for granted, and one we work to uphold every day.

Committed to the Future

As the UN marks the 25th anniversary of the Global Compact at the General Assembly in New York this week, it is a celebration of a significant period in history. Kofi Annan and the UN made this initiative a reality as a call to companies worldwide to dedicate themselves to 10 universal principles on human rights, labor rights, the environment, and anti-corruption.

In 2007, Danoffice IT declared our full support and membership in the Global Compact—a commitment that defines who we are today, says Danoffice IT CEO, Lars Baun:“After 18 years of dedication to the UN Global Compact, we can look back on a defining period in Danoffice IT’s history, where this very commitment has meant a great deal to us. In every corner of our organization, the UN’s ten universal principles now serve as a guide for how we act, how we are in the world, and how we can continue to work to make a difference.”

The First Agreement

As Danoffice IT celebrates its 30th anniversary later this year, one factor stands out: the first agreement. We were founded in 1995. Our first agreement was global, and our first customer was the UN! “This first agreement was the beginning of something very important. It has given our existence meaning, because from the very start, it wasn’t just about IT. The clear ambition was and still is—to contribute to making a difference,” says Lars Baun, and continues: “For everyone in the organization, our commitment to the Global Compact has been a crucial tool for our success and for being where we are today.”

What is the UN Global Compact?

Founded by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2000, with the ambition to get companies to commit to the UN’s Ten Principles on:

  • Human Rights
  • Labor Rights
  • Environment
  • Anti-Corruption

Today, the organization is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, with more than 20,000 members in over 160 countries.

The Journey Continues

After 80 years, the UN stands strong and is more relevant than ever. Our journey with this organization over the past 30 years has been invaluable and important to us. “It is the UN that brings technology and opportunities to the ends of the earth, to places where the roads end and where the world is in crisis. We are proud to be part of this journey. Congratulations to the UN and the Global Compact on these two major anniversaries—the journey ahead may be the most important ever. We are with you all the way,” concludes Lars Baun Jensen, CEO, Danoffice IT.
