One of the heaviest events of the year in the IT industry has now come to an end. HPE Discover marked itself as an event that gathers.

We witnessed a concentration in the innovation with a clear goal of making our lives – and working lives – better. A gathering of technologies, a gathering of products – and even a gathering of other manufacturers. This is done for the sake of synergies, for the clients and for our future.

One Сlear Purpose

HPE CEO, Antonio Neri, made it clear at the beginning of his awaited keynote. ”At HPE we exist for one clear purpose: To advance the way, people live and work”. A quote that obliges. And no one now doubts that HPE is very much planning to live up to that. Creating platforms and infrastructure which profoundly changes the way we work. That is one mission HPE has now engaged on, full throttle. Our Danoffice IT Discover-delegation got to witness that firsthand.

There’s no way avoiding AI – and neither should we. It was a part of almost everything at Discover 2025. However, the impact with AI depends on ourselves, said Antonio Neri: ”AI is only as good, as the data and infrastructure behind it, so getting the IT-foundation right is essential”. Thus, HPE did indeed present this foundation at Discover, for example with the next generation of their Greenlake platform – and so much more.

The Intelligent Platform of the Future

Even though the headlines at Discover 2025 were expected, there were lots of direction and foresight – and surprises, says Niels Vejrup Pedersen, HPE Worldwide Ambassador and Technology Lead in Danoffice IT. “The key elements were Hybrid Cloud, Network and AI. And HPE’s take on these matters was clear. The development is made up of two tracks. Like HPE’s Antonio Nero said: AI for network – network for AI. This means we are looking at products for AI, and products with AI. According to Michael Schultz, Sales Specialist, Hybrid Platforms in Danoffice IT, who is also appointed HPE Worldwide Ambassador, HPE is embracing this two-sided development. “At Discover HPE introduced the next generation of their primary platform, Greenlake. Now they are building in AI in Greenlake with Greenlake Intelligence, creating entirely new possibilities for operations and management”, he says and adds:

“You can provision your workflows on a whole new level now. With help from Agentic AI you interact with text and tell what resources you need in your environment. Then it gives you recommendations to where is the best place to put your workload on the platform. Its answers are based on deep insights in your environment”.

Concentrated Innovation

Niels shares that HPE’s products are developing at the speed of AI. “Recently they added Generative AI, but now they are on top of the game with the integration of Agentic AI. Here, we go from just getting answers to getting complete solutions as suggestions”, he says.

“Already this September, HPE will open up access to Agentic AI in Greenlake Intelligence – just to be ahead of everybody else. Which they will be at that point. With this new add-on they expect to be streamlining clients’ operations at an unmatched level, positioning them in the front of the field”.

LEARN ABOUT OPSRAMP

Michael adds that concentration is a keyword here. “HPE is concentrating all innovation and all development on their cloud-platform”, he states and adds. “Earlier we have had great success with training clients in using the platform with CloudPhysics, which was a stand-alone product. But from September that too will be integrated in the Greenlake Cloud platform. Earlier, CloudPhysics was able to analyze WMware-based infrastructure, but now it is expanded so that it now will analyze all other types of Hypervisors, using the technology from OpsRamp. This makes its appeal very broad”.

The First to Open Up

At Discover 2025 there were also intense debates. Political subjects were on the table, and Niels and Michael got to witness several of these, as they were invited to participate in roundtables and private meetings. One discussion which stood out was the question of whether or not to let in other manufacturers’ products.

As the first on the market to do so, HPE is now opening the doors so that you do not have to be 100 % HPE, and this rose some debate!

“This announcement was unexpected, but relevant in the big picture.  As a part of their platform-innovation HPE is now – partially – embracing 3rd party-equipment. We also saw this approach with their Morpheus Essentials in May, and HPE is all alone with this”, says Niels. “I actually agree that we should not shut the others out. It makes sense to open up for other vendors’ equipment – so everyone can get started, for example with Greenlake. Obviously, there are still advantages by having 100 % HPE-gear, but this makes it possible for more organizations to join us”.

Re-define, Re-balance

The depth and the pace of the innovation in the IT industry right now is of historical proportions. We need to re-think, says Michael Schultz. “From a distance, all IT-equipment looks the same. But it is in the context of management that HPE differentiates themselves from the rest. For example, with their Compute Ops Management, which is also AI-driven. This feature, too, is also now a part of the platform”.

Niels Vejrup Pedersen adds that the current development is also shaping HPE as a company.  “The primary message is, that HPE now adds extremely many elements to the Greenlake platform right now. And one hot topic right now is to re-define and re-balance your workloads. Here, HPE must give you recommendations and data on how to move on the easiest way, the most cost-effective way, and the best way possible. This is why they are gathering all things in the HPE-portfolio to exploit the synergies, and it really pays off. Adding to this is their strategic choice to open up for 3rd party products. This is all about being able to support the clients’ need for ultimate flexible operations”.

Europe, We Are Listening!

As expected, HPE showed timely care in addressing the hottest topic in the global IT industry right now, Geopolitics. International politics are subject to major changes right now, and this affect our industry on an unforeseen level, because the world, as we know it today, is driven by data. In large. Here, HPE’s major launch of Private Cloud AI takes the front as a solution which gives the answers to many of the current challenges. Niels emphasizes that the speed of the geo-related developments in IT is next level.  “A primary focus at Discover was the question on where we keep our data. Are they entirely off-grid, or “just” geographically fenced? HPE’s Cloud Control plane gives us new possibilities for making the right decisions with regards to security and regulations. But this is only possible because the development has been pushed forward”.

Michael adds that there is a lot of added value to this release. “We are dealing with a large American actor on the datacenter market which recognizes the geopolitical situation and the demands following it. They even have focus on Cloud-exit strategies, which is noticeable for an enterprise organization with American roots. They are making it possible for European companies to live up to national and regional regulations and laws”, he says and adds that especially HPE Private Cloud AI is leading the way. “This solution now offers both disconnected cloud and sovereign cloud. In the spring this year these features were only on roadmap with unknow release date. Now, just 3-4 months later, they are presented with full supported. This is extraordinary”.

Niels agrees: ”HPE wants to make sure that it is possible for European companies to team up with local partners, so they know where their data are. I see this as a sign of the fact that HPE wants to acknowledge, Europe, we are listening. We acknowledge your demands, concludes Niels Vejrup Pedersen, HPE Worldwide Ambassador and Techology Lead in Danoffice IT.
