Taking responsibility…

Contributing to the future means embracing responsibility on multiple fronts. We take ownership of developing tomorrow's technology, but equally vital is our commitment to shaping and nurturing the talents of the future – the individuals who will carry the torch forward, and they need to be well-prepared.

It is precisely for this reason that Danoffice IT's AI Team has initiated a collaboration with several educational institutions to involve tomorrow's IT stars in the development of the solutions that will shape all our everyday lives going forward. And make no mistake – the learning and experience are mutually beneficial.

"Our collaboration is a great benefit on both sides of the table. We gain access to a huge resource of energy, efficiency, and completely fresh frontline knowledge. The young people, on the other hand, gain access to tools and experiences that they would in no way be able to obtain from the school desk. The innate understanding of technology these young people possess, combined with the constant influx of the latest knowledge they receive – that is absolutely invaluable. They bring perspectives we simply don't have,"

Deep Dive into Development

In their collaboration with the young students, Leif and his team are fully committed.

''For this partnership to be truly valuable for everyone, we maintain a serious approach. We currently have two significant teams of 16 students each, dedicating a full 50% of their study time to agile development projects for us, alongside four master's thesis writers and four student employees. As a result, we bring them directly into the core of our operations, involving them in some of our most cutting-edge and most complex solutions," explains Leif Elgaard Høj.

These projects are substantial and complex, addressing the needs of our existing customers, and we seek their fresh, objective insights. "We come with a real existing product that we would like the students to develop further. We're building an agile development framework where it's okay to hit roadblocks and to celebrate progress together."

The employees of the future

"We've got a lot to learn from them, and they from us," says Leif, emphasizing that there is a clear mission for the collaboration. On a daily basis, Leif's colleague, Mateusz Dyduch, AI Specialist at Danoffice IT, is the go-to person and Project Owner for the students, is also really excited:

"Getting over 20 students connected in total takes effort, but we see it as a way to grow new talent. After all, they could be our future employees. We give them tools and skills, and we set them up and take responsibility for helping them grow," says Mateusz, adding that this new partnership started with the young people choosing Danoffice IT.

"We took an actual project with a major food producer and presented it to a big group of students. After that, we held some first-round interviews to carefully assemble a team that would work well together on this project."

Together for the future

This collaborative effort brings together over 20 students, forming two SCRUM teams under the guidance of Project Owner Mateusz Dyduch, AI Specialist at Danoffice IT.

With four students already part of the AI team, the department now unites 24 young talents in shaping tomorrow's solutions. This six-month project focuses on the further development of two major AI solutions previously created by Danoffice IT for two major customers.

A storm of applications

Leif Elgaard Høj, Head of AI at Danoffice IT, admits that bringing 24 young people into the production flow and the hustle of a global company might look intense from the outside, but the payoff is huge.

"We give them significant ownership," he explains. "These two teams are in charge of charting the course for the next steps of our two specific solutions." He adds, "Our AI Team at Danoffice IT is packed with top-tier AI experts, so we know our field inside and out. But this partnership lets us pit our own ideas against the freshest theories and the latest research, which creates a real power boost. And we should also not forget the career aspect. We want to have the best candidates in-house, and already the collaboration has generated a storm of applications."

We can and we will!

Taking care of the IT talents of the future is not new to Leif Elgaard Høj. Beyond his role at Danoffice IT, he volunteers for years with the Danish Coding Pirates network, inspiring children and young people to pursue careers in IT and technology. His dedication to fostering young talent aligns perfectly with Danoffice IT's commitment to developing future IT professionals.

''By engaging young individuals in real-world problem-solving, we offer them a significant developmental opportunity – and in turn, we benefit from the fresh perspectives and sharp intellect of the country's brightest students," explains Leif.

"While it requires commitment, we see it as a vital responsibility. Our approach is simple: We are capable and committed – and we believe others can and should be too." concludes Leif Elgaard Høj, Head of AI, Danoffice IT.
